she entered his life
a social prophet and a princess
with a makeshift confidence
in roles and revelations

She cancelled her visions
on fridays and freeways
for hand-me-down-politics
of foreign affairs

her voice in mirror talking:
Next year in Jerusalem

The man soreheaded
the founder of fragrances
breeder of tangerine lizards

up against the rock
he stands speechless
yet studies the grammar of stones
